Who We Are
Rumah started on a mother and daughter trip together. In the 70’s my mom explored Bali, and in 2011 we came back together. Seeing the world was never an option for us, it was a necessity. The itch to travel, to explore and to immerse our selves in foreign cultures fuels our travels. We are captivated by the earth's beauty where we go, and this is our way of sharing that beauty with you. We are currently based in a dreamy little beach town, just north of Coffs Harbour. While part of our heart is in California, the rest of it is in Bingin Beach.There’s an energy that is unexplainable, and if you’ve been there once you’ll dream about it forever.
Our Jewellery
Each piece of sea glass, stone, and shell we use in our seaglass collection is hand picked from Bingin Beach in Bali, Indonesia. Every low tide we walk to the shore collecting the broken bits of glass that have washed up. We then sort through that, hand select what pieces speak to us and design around the shape. We never cut, smooth or change the glass - we let the ocean do the shaping for us.
Our Belief
The world has a way of sharpening our edges if you let it. Like glass, we can be broken, our edges sharp. If we allow that very same world to happen as it should, we often find our edges eventually become rounded, that sharpness is slowly but surely softened. Sea glass for us is the perfect example. When a glass is broken, the edges can cut, can cause pain. But when mixed with the ocean, in the constant turbulence of the waves, our edges are softened. The surface is smoothed over time.
